You might not think of it, but less than a half of the bat deaths are caused because of cats, dogs, and other domesticated animals. For example, cats could catch a bat and would kill it because they think it is a toy. Dogs are the same, if they see a bat they would immediately want to catch it because they want to play with it.
On this picture, a cat is playing with a bat. This hurts the bat very much and it slowly dies :(.
Environment/Humans
Bats die from very surprising things, some of them also being WIND TURBINES!?
Aug. 26, 2008 — Power-generating wind turbines have long been recognized as a potentially life-threatening hazard for bats. But at most wind facilities, bats actually die in much greater numbers. In the States only, wind turbines kill 1,000 bats each year. You probably think to your self how can wind turbines kill bats if the turbines move so slow?
Wind turbines turn to create energy. When a turbine turns it pulls in air which keeps it from stopping. The wind pull of the turbine is so strong that it can pull bats towards it. Then the bat can not fly any other direction but towards the wind turbine, and it collides with it and splatters. And that's how bats die.
Fungus
Fungus has killed 6 million bats in the US. The death toll from white-nose syndrome is now 5.7 million to 6.7 million bats since 2006, and the disease is still spreading quickly
Bats have learned to adapt to this by learning how to classify their plants. bats get fungus mostly from plants but also from mating with another bat that has fungus. Researchers have developed a computer algorithm that can imitate the bat's ability to classify plants by using echolocation. Exeptionally, the Golden-Crowned Flying Fox does not use echolocation, it identifies it's plants by vision and smell.
Lack of food
Most bats live in caves were there is not much to eat. especially because most bats live in huge groups. But bats have adapted to the following: 1. Some bats go hunt outside of their caves, but only at night. 2. In winter bats have adapted critically, because of the huge lack of food bats have adapted so that they do not need t eat at all. Bats go into a certain "winter rigid" were they sleep the hole winter until it gets warmer. This was proven by scientists.
One of the scientist t put a bat in a fridge for the whole winter. When he took it out the bat awakened and was at nearly full strength.
